Secret Safari ride report

8 January 2024

We were thrilled to see so many enthusiastic faces, both young and old, for our community ride around the animal murals of Wood Green.

Despite the grey wintery weather that greeted us on the morning of 30th December, we saw a great turnout of roughly 60 people ranging from the very young to the more vintage cyclist. Everyone seemed to be very keen to burn off some energy and mince pies after the Christmas celebrations.

We all met up in Chestnuts Park and then headed out towards Turnpike Lane, as we took in the brilliant animal mural artworks by Turnpike Art Group that were dotted along the route.

The murals that we saw included a lioness, lemurs, a mouflon, polar bears, a fox, a hedgehog, a kingfisher and more. Whilst everybody seemed to enjoy spotting the animals, the children on the ride seemed to be having a particularly good time shouting the various names of the animals out as we pootled along!
